PRO BONO INITIATIVE: HELPING LAWYERS HELP OTHERS

The SCCBA Board of Trustees adopted a resolution in 2012 to encourage all attorneys to provide at least 60 hours a year in direct legal assistance to the indigent.

The SCCBA initiative was originally launched in 2006 and is designed to help lawyers help those who would not otherwise have access to legal representation. The Pro Bono Initiative seeks to accomplish this by encouraging all SCCBA members and other attorneys to give pro bono time to a local legal service organization or program and by providing information regarding specific pro bono opportunities in Santa Clara County.

The SCCBA also sponsors or cosponsors training seminars to train attorneys who wish to volunteer for legal service programs or projects but need training in that area of law.
