Pro Bono/Low Bono Opportunities through the SCCBA and Affiliated Organizations

Modest Means Panel
SCCBA Modest Means Panel is administered through the SCCBA Lawyer Referral Service and provides attorneys for individuals who cannot afford the going rates for attorneys but who earn too much to qualify for pro bono legal services.

Modest Means panel attorneys agree to accept cases at a discounted rate. If the attorney does not have enough experience, an experienced attorney is assigned as a mentor so the attorney can ethically accept the case. For more information and to apply to be a Modest Means attorney, click here

Virtual Legal Services
Virtual Legal Services, sponsored by the Pro Bono Project of Silicon Valley, connects volunteer attorneys and legal services organizations with low-income community members in need of legal services remotely through technology and the internet.

An attorney can provide legal consultation from any location with an Internet connection. A community member can go to a convenient local site, such as a library, local legal aid office, or community center, to seek services. The consultations are supervised and managed by a legal service organization that provides training, logistics, and risk management support.

The SCCBA is a partner in this project by being a community site where clients can schedule appointments and come in person to use a computer loaded with the appropriate software and a connected printer to connect with a volunteer attorney.

Community Members may sign up to seek legal advice at the Virtual Pro Bono Clinic here.

Volunteer Opportunities are also available through other Bay Area organizations. Click here for more information.
