Who are those judges and what are they thinking? Here is an opportunity to gain some tips directly from the 2017 Civil Case Managers. The lineup is essentially the same as last year, with a couple of exceptions, but the playbooks are new.

To be “in the know,” you will want to know:
1. How is our trial calendar? Are we still going to get out the first time up to the plate?
2. Who are our new Civil Trial Judges?
3. The roster of Case Managers has shrunk from 5 to 4. How will that impact case assignments and lead time for law and motion matters? How about the effect upon ex parte matters?
4. Is the lead time from TSC to trial still 60-120, or has that changed?
5. Defaults; CRC 3.1800. How not to beat yourself and defeat your own default. What happened to my default papers, and will I get a judgment within a life in being plus 21 years?
6. Does Tentative really mean tentative? Should I argue or submit.
7. Is there meat in the obligation to meet and confer? What are your ideas to avoid discovery law and motion?
8. How is the transition to Odyssey going in year two? Any news on E-Filing?
9. "Triggers" is a prevalent buzz word these days; what are your "triggers"?
10. My dog ate my papers, my dog ate my cell phone calendar, my dog ate my client; what is the current philosophy on continuances of trial and law and motion matters.

These questions and many more will be answered in our two hour program starring our 2017 Case Managers, the Honorable Mary E. Arand, the Honorable William J. Elfving, the Honorable Maureen A. Folan, and the Honorable Theodore C. Zayner.  Gain insights that will help you succeed in civil practice. Attend this program for an update on local rules, the hot button issues in Law and Motion, and, most importantly, the preferences of each Case Manager.
