From jurisdiction and record preparation to timely disposition: How the appellate motions practice can streamline and expedite the appellate process.  Court staff will discuss recent developments at the Court in the processing of motions, and how to make the most of the appellate motions practice.

SPEAKER: 
Marina Meyere, Managing Attorney at the Sixth District


Marina Meyere has served as the Sixth District Court of Appeal's Managing Attorney since December 2003. Previously, Ms. Meyere worked as a chambers attorney for Presiding Justice Conrad Rushing at the Court of Appeal, as Lead Research Attorney at the Santa Clara County Superior Court, Civil Division, and as Lead Research Attorney at the Alameda County Superior Court - Civil Division.  Before joining the courts, Ms. Meyere worked in both civil and criminal practice, and spent time in Geneva, Switzerland, working for the United Nations, High Commissioner for Refugees.
 
Ms. Meyere received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1995, and her B.A. in International Relations from Tufts University, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 1990.  Ms. Meyere also holds a Certification from the Institut International de Droit de l'Homme in Strasbourg, France.
 
Ms. Meyere's commitment to public service and the advancement of human rights began at the age of 5 when she and her parents left the Soviet Union as refugees and settled in Seattle Washington.  She now lives in Pleasanton, CA. She has two children currently attending university.
