The course will provide participants with the inside track on trying a civil case before a jury. Aspiring trial lawyers will learn each sequential step required to conduct a civil jury trial, 'from A to Z' . Join experienced trial lawyers and judges as they discuss best practices, tried and true techniques, ethical considerations, and different practice styles. Attendees will learn about each step to take from trial call through verdict and Judgment. Post-verdict motions will also be discussed. Topics will range from pre-trial motions, jury selection, distinguishing exercise of informed bias from unlawful bias, opening statements, direct and cross examinations, closing arguments, to post-trial issues.
Participating on the panel are the authors of a newly published book Mastering the Mechanics of Civil Jury Trials. The book, which is included with your registration fee, offers a concise format and clarity of prose. This strategic guide offers a primer for the layperson or law student, and a mentor-in-a-briefcase for attorneys representing either plaintiff or defendant. Standing room only crowds attend continuing education classes held by the authors, and it was this demand to preserve their decades of wisdom that led to the book's eventual publication. The sequential layout is so logical, and includes such sage wisdom and common-sense strategy, Mastering the Mechanics of Civil Jury Trials is also a fascinating read; a real-life glimpse inside the mechanics of courtroom procedure that sheds full light on the nuances and strategies of the civil justice system. Includes an extensive Appendix citing state-by-state rules and codes for various aspects of trial procedure. A fascinating peek inside the courtroom.
If you wish to purchase additional copies of the book, it will be available for purchase at the seminar for $65.00, or you may purchase a copy online, to secure your copy and pick it up at the seminar.
