This course will provide an overview of the statutory and constitutional issues raised by firearms in family law cases.  Topics will include: Surrender of firearms pursuant to Domestic Violence Restraining Orders; Preservation of the community/separate estate when personal property includes firearms; and Drafting enforceable custody orders – with or without domestic violence issues – when either (or both) parents own firearms.  The course will also address some of the real world practical consequences of the underlying public policy.
