Gov. Jerry Brown has appointed two public defenders to become judges in the Santa Clara County Superior Court.
San Jose residents Jose Franco, 42, and Nona Klippen, 59, have both served extensively in the Santa Clara County Public Defender's Office over the past several years.
Franco most recently served as supervisor of the Juvenile Justice Unit in the public defender's office and has served as a deputy public defender since 2000, according to a news release from Brown's office. He received a law degree from the University of San Francisco and a bachelor of art's degree from Boston College. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge James P. Kleinberg, the release stated.
